Someone asked us:
Can I take a plan b pill after it's been expired for about 6 months now and it still works?

No. Expired medicine isn’t as effective, so it’s important to check the expiration date to make sure your medicine will actually work.

Since the morning-after pill works better the sooner you take it, it’s a good idea to get it BEFORE you need it. You can keep it in your medicine cabinet and it will be there for you, just in case. That said, even though the morning after pill — like Plan B — can last in your medicine cabinet for years, it does eventually expire. So it’s important to check the expiration date — it’s usually printed on the side of the box.
