New York, NY – Earlier this year, Planned Parenthood Federation of America announced that after 12 years of service to the organization, Cecile Richards will be stepping down as president in 2018. Today, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Board of Directors is announcing that the Search Committee has hired the search firm Russell Reynolds Associates to work with the committee to find a replacement for the longtime president.

We are excited to work alongside Russell Reynolds Associates, our board, and Planned Parenthood leaders to help identify the next great leader to continue the important work of Planned Parenthood and our affiliates across the country,

said Anna Quindlen, chair of the Search Committee

Russell Reynolds Associates has previously led successful searches for CEOs at a number of Planned Parenthood’s affiliates. The Search Committee selected Russell Reynolds Associates based on the firm's dedication to developing a diverse pool of candidates. The Russell Reynolds Associates team supporting the Search Committee will be led by Jamie Hechinger, who built the firm’s Social Justice and Advocacy Practice; Mary Tydings, who has been in the search field for three decades and built the firm’s Nonprofit sector; and Sarah Ladd Eames, who specializes in the Health Services sector.

The process for identifying a new leader for Planned Parenthood is laid out in Planned Parenthood’s succession plan, which was adopted by the board in 2012. The Search Committee will work with Russell Reynolds Associates to conduct a nationwide search to attract and identify a pool of candidates who can build on Planned Parenthood's 100-year legacy of health care and advocacy, and reflect the broad range of patients, volunteers, supporters, and staff who are the backbone of Planned Parenthood.

Russell Reynolds Associates has established the following email address to collect resumes and inquiries: [email protected].

Planned Parenthood has never been stronger, with more members, supporters, donors, and activists than ever before. We look forward to finding a successor who will build on the progress we have achieved under Cecile’s leadership and guide the organization as we head into our second century,

Naomi Aberly, board chair, said.
