“We’re thrilled to have Monica Kerrigan joining us to lead Planned Parenthood Global. Monica is a seasoned veteran of sexual and reproductive health and rights, and brings decades of leadership experience and a lifelong commitment of service to this work. This work has never been more important — we’re in a critical time when the sexual and reproductive health and rights of people around the world are under attack.
Monica will lead the work of Planned Parenthood Global to advance the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people, women, and families around the world — no matter what and no matter where. All people deserve access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. We look forward to begin our work with Monica Kerrigan at the helm to build on the legacy of Planned Parenthood Global.”
Statement from Monica Kerrigan, incoming Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Global:
“I am honored to step in as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global, an organization with a long history of supporting partners to provide and protect the sexual and reproductive health and rights of people around the world, including safe abortion. At this moment in history when the stakes for abortion access are so high in the U.S. and globally, Planned Parenthood is fighting back, because abortion is health care and health care is a human right. I am excited to continue in this great tradition of service and advocacy and to work alongside the Planned Parenthood team who is so committed to global health.”
For more than 45 years, Planned Parenthood Global has supported access to sexual and reproductive health care and advocated for reproductive rights around the world. In partnership with more than 120 organizations across 12 focus countries in Africa and Latin America, we advance the health and rights of young people, women and families, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable and underserved. Last year, our partners provided over 5.6 million people with sexual and reproductive health information and services. Our unique sustainability model sets us apart, as we empower partners to stand on their own. We help grassroots organizations develop solid reproductive health programs, identify other sources of funding, build their communications and advocacy skills, and develop strategic plans. Planned Parenthood Global is the international arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
