Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI) is committed to providing our patients with safe and timely access to the health care they need during the COVID crisis. Today, we are proud to announce that PPWI has launched a new telehealth program, which allows patients to access high-quality, affordable health care services by phone and/or through a private and secure video conferencing platform that connects them with PPWI's trusted providers.

“Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is here with you — wherever you are. We are proud to use technology and innovation to reach people with the health care and information they need, when they need it. In these uncertain times, we're committed to connecting patients to the information and care they need in the comfort and safety of their homes whenever possible,” said Tanya Atkinson, President and CEO of PPWI.

Through telehealth, patients can access services with less time in the health center or without needing to visit a health center at all. PPWI is committed to answering patient questions, managing their prescriptions, and helping to address sexual and reproductive health care needs, remotely. PPWI is committed to serving our patients where they are and will be looking to announce additional service enhancements in the future.

“We know your sexual and reproductive health care can’t wait. As we weather this challenging time together, we don’t want you to worry about your birth control, emergency contraception, managing your health options, or accessing STI and pregnancy tests” said Atkinson. “PPWI is doing everything we can to provide our patients with the information and care they need in timely and personalized ways. Whether we provide services in person, online, or by phone — we’re here with you.”

“As a healthcare provider, I’m committed to finding new ways to reach my patients with the essential care they need — wherever they are,” said PPWI Medical Director, Dr. Kathy King. "The negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is converging with existing sexual and reproductive health and justice inequities to disproportionately impact the health, wellbeing, and financial stability of our patients especially those from communities of color. PPWI has quickly pivoted our care delivery model during this pandemic to provide patients with access to timely information and health care through telehealth. Planned Parenthood health centers see firsthand how telehealth helps patients overcome barriers to accessing essential sexual and reproductive health services, especially right now during this time when social distancing is needed. For patients who do not require an in-person visit, telehealth helps to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 while also meeting the needs of our patients so they can be safe, healthy and strong.”
