Planned Parenthood v. Casey

June  29, 1992

This 1992 landmark court case upheld the constitutional right to have an abortion established in Roe v. Wade (1973). While upholding the basic principle of Roe v. Wade, this case overturned the trimester framework set through Roe v. Wade. Instead, this case instituted a viability framework which ruled prohibitions on abortion could be established once a fetus reaches viability.
