Donation FAQs

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes. PPTNM is a 501(c)(3) organization and your gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.  Sometimes, a small portion of an event sponsorship is non-deductible, but this is a case by case basis.

How will my gift be used?

Your contributions support the general operations of PPTNM. They are especially important to help us provide healthcare to patients who cannot afford to pay for all or part of their care. Your gifts also support our education and advocacy programs.

What happens after I make my first gift?

All of us at PPTNM truly value your support and want to make sure that you get regular updates about the important work that you help fund. PPTNM donors receive our monthly email newsletter and can expect other special communications from us throughout the year.

PPTNM also has special Giving Circles to honor donors who give significantly and proudly each year.

Are Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi (PPTNM) and Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) the same?

No, we are not. PPTNM is an affiliate/member of PPFA.

PPTNM provides sexual and reproductive healthcare, advocacy and education across Tennessee and North Mississippi. PPFA is a national organization and does not provide direct services.

PPFA does set standards for all Planned Parenthood affiliates in the United States and, in so doing, ensures the high quality healthcare, education, and advocacy offered by its affiliates.

What is the difference between PPTNM, Tennessee Advocates for Planned Parenthood (TAPP), and Planned Parenthood of Tennessee Action Fund (PPTNAF)?

Great question — it gets confusing! PPTNM is our 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides healthcare, education and community engagement - our mission.  Donations are tax deductible.

TAPP is our 501(c)4 social welfare organization that advocates for PPTNM through political activities. TAPP advocates for PPTNM, working to create cultural and political change in support of sexual and reproductive health/rights for our survival. These donations are not tax deductible.

Finally, PPTNAF is our political action committee or PAC that funds our electoral work - to elect progressive, pro-bodily autonomy, anti-racist candidates or defeat anti-reproductive rights, racist, bigoted political candidates. These donations are not tax deductible and are also not confidential.
