Tips and Tools for End of Year Giving

Your support is important to us and we want to be sure that your gift counts where you want it to.

Donate by Mail – Your gift may be tax-deductible. If you plan to itemize your charitable contributions for 2021, please postmark your gift by Dec 31st or make your online gift today.

Make it monthly -- an automatic monthly gift from your bank or credit card is a simple way to easily give more and provides steady reliable support for PPSO. You can set up a monthly gift here.

CARES Act – For those that no longer itemize their charitable giving, the CARES Act will allow individual taxpayers to deduct donations to charity of up to $300 and up to $600 for married individuals filing joint returns on their 2021 federal tax return, even though they take the standard deduction. Contributions to donor-advised funds or giving accounts may differ. Consult your tax professional for more information.

Donate appreciated securities -- A gift of stock may be advantageous by helping you avoid capital gains tax. Please notify our Development Team if you are intending to make a stock gift to ensure proper credit or have any questions.

Give your IRA Minimum Distributions (RMDs) -- If you’re 70 ½ years or older, you may be able to transfer a charitable gift directly from your IRA without recognizing the distribution as income. Consult your tax professional for more information.

Legacy Giving – Planning for your future? Click here to learn more about making a gift to PPSO through your estate or trust.

Employer Matching -- Many companies will match their employees’ contributions. Check with your human resources department to see if your company matches gifts to nonprofits.

AmazonSmile -- You can #StartwithaSmile and name PPSO as a beneficiary of qualifying AmazonSmile purchases by visiting this link.

E-Scrip -- Connect your credit cards through E-Scrip, where you can assign up to three charities to receive a percentage of your purchase when you shop at stores like Market of Choice, Fred Meyer, and more! Sign up here.

Donate airline miles or reward points -- Instead of letting your rewards go to waste, you may be able to donate them to PPSO. Many credit cards make it easy for you to donate your credit card reward points and miles to charity. Often you can redeem online or with a representative for your credit card company. Contact your card issuer for specific information on how to donate your rewards to PPSO.
