Let's Check In With A Well Person Check-Up

A well-person check-up is a yearly appointment to check in about your health (also called an annual exam). We personalize this visit to fit you, your body, and your health, and help determine care that is right for you. A physical exam is not always needed.

What is a well-person check-up?

Your well-person check-up is all about you, your body, and your health. Well-person check-ups are also called annual exams, although an exam is not always needed. It is important for everybody to have a yearly well-person check-up to help you be as healthy as you can be. At PPNNE, we consider many factors that could impact your health from your medical history, your mental health, your reproductive plans and your goals.

What happens during a well-person check-up?

Well-person check-ups at Planned Parenthood are personalized to fit YOU. The services we offer depend on your age and your personal medical history. With all people, we’ll do preventive care such as a blood pressure screening, and height and weight. We'll ask you questions about your health and habits, and your reproductive plans and needs. If you are due for a health screening or test, we may recommend you receive those during the visit. Some examples may include cervical cancer screening, blood sugar testing, or STD testing.

Do I have to get a Pap test or other exam?

A well-person check-up may not include an exam at all! If you are due for certain services, it could include a HPV test, pelvic exam, or breast exam, for example. These services vary from person to person, as they are personalized to fit each individual.
