Every day, Planned Parenthood provides affordable reproductive health care and family planning services that women and men need to prevent unintended pregnancies and STDs, and to plan families when they're ready. If you have an appointment please read the pre-appointment instructions below to prepare for your visit.

Well-Woman Exam or Midlife

  • Nothing in the vagina for 24 hours before appt. (no intercourse, vaginal creams, douching, suppositories).

  • If you are bleeding, or think you will be bleeding on the day of your appointment, please call us. Spotting is not a problem.

  • If Nuva Ring is your birth control method, leave your ring in place.

  • Do not urinate for one hour before the visit; so that we can do chlamydia & gonorrhea tests from a urine sample.

  • Bring photo id, and insurance card and payment if required.

  • You MUST call us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel the appointment.

Vasectomy

  • Shower or bathe daily for 3 days before the appointment being careful to wash the penis and scrotum thoroughly.

  • On the day before the appointment, wash the penis & scrotum thoroughly and shave the front of the scrotum.

  • Wear very snug underwear to appointment.

  • Take 800 mg of ibuprofen 30 minutes before appointment.

  • Be well hydrated.

  • No alcohol, aspirin, or street drugs for 24 hours before appointment.

  • Eat something within 1 hour before appointment.

  • Must have a confirmed ride home to get sedation.

  • Bring a list of all medications you are currently taking.

  • Feel free to call with any questions before coming in.

  • Bring photo id, and insurance card and payment if required.

  • You MUST call us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel the appointment.

  • We try to give you a reminder call two days before your appointment.

  • Wear comfortable clothing with underwear that will accommodate a maxi pad. No thongs.

  • No alcohol, aspirin or street drugs for 2 days before appointment.

  • Must have a confirmed ride home to get sedation.
