Public Affairs

The PPGC Public Affairs team is looking forward to a new year and the opportunity to deepen our community relationships.

Volunteers needed! Would you like to contribute your time and talents, ensuring that we’re able to continue providing health services, advocacy, and education to the communities we serve.  We welcome you to complete this brief volunteer application

Planned Parenthood Young Leaders

In both New Orleans and Baton Rouge, we are currently recruiting members to join Planned Parenthood Young Leaders outreach and development arm. These young professionals will be charged with supporting our movement, fundraising for our community programs, participating in our Legislative Rapid Response team, and hosting networking events to engage with other young people in our cities. If you’re interested in getting more involved with these efforts or want to learn more about PPYL events, please email [email protected].

Planned Parenthood Generation Action

We are actively recruiting college students to join Planned Parenthood Generation Action. We need these volunteers to engage their peers in advocating for reproductive health and education and to support civic engagement efforts like voter registration. Together with our Education Team, we will offer virtual sex-ed sessions with topics including the pandemic’s impact on healthy relationships, access to birth control options, and so much more. If you want to make a difference on your campus, please email your local organizer at [email protected].

Louisiana Rapid Response Team

Louisiana’s 2022 Legislative Session begins Monday, March 14, and we need your support. If you want to join the fight against extremist, dangerous attacks on reproductive health, sign up for our Legislative Rapid Response Team, an elite group of activists who commit to specific actions during our fast-paced legislative sessions. With a range of activities based on your time and availability, there's a way for you to make your voice heard! Register here.

Share Your Story

Has Planned Parenthood changed your life? Do you have a story to share? We’re always looking for new voices to uplift. To find out more about our Speakers Bureau and future storytelling opportunities, please email [email protected] or visit ppgulfcoast.org/story.

Shout your Story – inside each of us is a natural born storyteller waiting to be released.  Now more than ever it is so important that we open our mouths and lift-up voices and speak truth to power.  Take a few minutes to enjoy these stories and consider adding your story to the PPGC Storytelling Quilt

We all have a story!  And your story is so important to building an inclusive and equitable reproductive movement in 2022.  Please consider sharing yours.

Education

In 2022 we will educate to develop new youth leaders.  Leading more intentionally with our medically accurate and culturally relevant education programming, peer education, and by providing statewide training for youth serving professionals, we hope to expand our engagement of youth, parents and adults. The Chat/Text program will continue to provide information that youth need to make responsible sexual decisions.

Chat/Text

Our health educators also continue to provide education and outreach through the Chat/Text program, which enables adolescents and young adults to contact trained Planned Parenthood health educators through text or instant messaging to ask questions about birth control, emergency contraception, STI testing, pregnancy testing, abortion, and more. To chat, simply visit plannedparenthood.org/online-tools/chat or text “PPNOW” to 774636.

SSS

Sisters Saving Sisters (SSS) is a free mentoring program designed to advance and empower young women of color. Young women who are eager to learn about sexual health, build community, and develop leadership skills for the future can expect meaningful mentorship, fun social events, and incentives (like gift cards and giveaways) for active participation. Transwomen, femmes, and all who identify as young women of color are invited and welcome to join!
