Opening in October, the health center will provide much-needed access to healthcare in the Paso del Norte region
EL PASO, Texas — Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, an expert resource for healthcare and a proud and trusted provider of healthcare and education in Texas for more than 80 years, is expanding to West Texas.
The new El Paso health center, opening in October at 1511 E. Missouri Ave., in Central El Paso, will provide:
- Breast exams and cervical cancer screenings
- Birth control, including long-acting IUDs and implants
- Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV tests, PrEP and PEP medication to prevent HIV transmission
- Treatment for urinary tract and vaginal infections
- Medical and surgical abortion and more
El Paso is one of the largest cities in the U.S. without a Planned Parenthood health center. Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas is changing that, providing El Paso with much-needed women's and sexual healthcare services beginning in October. Planned Parenthood's re-introduction to El Paso ensures continued access to medication and surgical abortion for the entire Paso del Norte community, in addition to a full range of sexual healthcare.
Planned Parenthood health centers offer high quality, affordable medical care for women, men and teens regardless of income, immigration status or whom they love. All services are low cost and confidential.
Since 2011, the Texas Legislature and state politicians have systematically dismantled women's health programs like the Medicaid Women’s Health Program and blocked Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening and other grant funding from Planned Parenthood health centers with devastating results. Despite these ongoing political efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and block access to our services, Planned Parenthood is expanding access to healthcare to reach more Texans.
