First things first – Abortion is Legal in Ohio.

Everyone should have the right to control their own body and the freedom to make choices about their reproductive futures. When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last June, it stripped tens of millions of people of the right to make their own personal medical decisions. Communities deserve better. People deserve bodily autonomy. Everyone deserves access to care.

Our responsibility is care — no matter what —which is why we are working to build greater access to sexual and reproductive health care and education for people in Ohio, including abortion care for people of all races, genders, and economic backgrounds — free from restrictions, stigma, discrimination, and fear.

Here are a few ways you can directly help build greater access to sexual and reproductive health care and education for people in Ohio:

Get Involved with Your Local Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio (PPGOH) is proud to provide empowered reproductive health care through 17 health centers located across the state as well as sexuality education for youth and adults. From contraception, STI testing, and abortion care to diabetes and hypertension screening and primary care, we are here to provide the care people deserve.

Supporting your local Planned Parenthood affiliate is a way to directly impact the communities we serve. Our donors and supporters are vital components of the care we provide. With you by our side, Ohioans will continue to have access to these essential services, creating healthier outcomes!

Here are a few ways you can support PPGOH:

  • And so much more

Support an Abortion Fund

Abortion funds work to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access. People facing barriers to abortion access often face more than one, beyond the cost alone. That’s why many abortion funds also provide practical support, including transportation, childcare payment, lodging, translation services, abortion doulas, and more. They’re an essential resource for people who would not otherwise be able to afford or access an abortion.

Ohio has three funds that you can support:

Vote! Vote! Vote!

Your vote impacts your community. Our local governments have the greatest impact on our day-to-day lives. They affect things like schools, parks, roads, and even fundamental human rights.

You can create change in your community by registering to vote and voting in every election. Every election matters. Here are a few steps to take to ensure you are ready to vote in the next election:

  • Encourage your friends and family to follow the steps above

Share Reliable Resources

You have the power to help change hearts and minds, reduce stigma, and let others know that we are here for them! Misinformation can often discredit the lifesaving work we do each and every day. By sharing factual, reliable information and resources, you can be a force in this movement and help support our mission.

Always consider the source when taking in new information, especially on social media platforms! Even if they sound like they know what they’re talking about, not everybody's a health expert or a reliable source of facts.

Encourage your close circle, patients, or peers to find reliable sexual health information and updated news on our social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook), PPGOH’s website, or through any of Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s digital resources. We strive to ensure communities have access to accurate information and quality, compassionate, inclusive care, so people can make their own decisions and live their healthiest, happiest life.

Together, we will continue to build greater access to sexual and reproductive health care and education that Ohioans deserve – no matter what.
