January 22, 2023, marks what should have been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court case that protected the legal right to abortion in the United States. Although it had limitations, Roe was fundamental to the health, freedoms, and bodily autonomy of all. Over six months ago, the Supreme Court decided to steal away our constitutional right to abortion, turning this day of celebration into an urgent fight for reproductive health, rights, and justice.

As Iris Harvey, PPGOH President and CEO, said in her recent op-ed, "this anniversary is a reminder of what we have lost, it is also a reminder that Roe was always the floor — not the ceiling — and now we must reimagine what is possible for our communities. Our vision for the future centers those historically left out to build a more equitable health care landscape for all."

Today and every day, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is committed to pushing forward in this post-Roe world to ensure that every patient can access the sexual and reproductive care they need and deserve. During this unpredictable time, we continue to fight for safe and legal access to abortion care. Despite the harsh, medically unnecessary restrictions, abortion is legal in Ohio and our doors are open for abortion services up to 19 weeks of pregnancy.

We know Ohioans deserve more. A better, more equitable, future is ours — and we will build it together.

There are many ways you can join the fight to defend and expand abortion access. From volunteer opportunities to donating in support of our mission, your impact can help save lives. Learn more at: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-greater-ohio/get-involved
