Welcome to the Kansas Clinical Family Planning (KCFP) Fellowship.

KCFP Fellowship is a one-year, clinical fellowship designed to train doctors to provide complex abortion care in an area of the country that has seen the largest increase in abortion need since 2021.

Fellows will work in various clinics throughout Kansas at Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood Great Plains to become trained in comprehensive abortion care provision (medication abortion, procedural abortion up to 21 weeks and 6 days, complex contraception, while navigating a politically repressive reproductive health legislative landscape, etc.).

We currently have clinics in WichitaOverland Park, and Kansas City, Kansas

Fellows will work in both supervised and unsupervised roles to gain competence and confidence and work to help alleviate the suffering from our nation's public health emergency. Fellows will work closely with our staff physicians, especially Dr. Sandoval and Dr. Alsaden, to ensure that they have achieved competence in their desired skills.

There will also be opportunities to learn and provide vasectomies during the fellowship through our vasectomy training program (coming soon) in Oklahoma.

Fellows will be selected with a preference for applicants who did not receive clinical training in abortion care in their residencies or are not trained up to 21 weeks and 6 days+.

Fellowship will be 10-12 months in length depending on necessary start and end dates and training progress. We can work with you on dates, so please do not let date restrictions prohibit you from applying.

Fellowship is open to participants who have or will have completed a residency by the time they begin their fellowship. No clinicians that will be residents, fellows or medical students at the start of their fellowship should apply.

What is the KCFP Fellowship?

Welcome to the Kansas Clinical Family Planning (KCFP) Fellowship

The KCFP Fellowship training application will now be open on a rolling basis, meaning that applications will be open at all times. We will be selecting and hiring one fellow approximately every six months, with the next fellow starting in Fall/Winter 2024.

Future fellows will be interviewed and hired on a more "traditional" academic schedule, meaning applications and interviews will be held in Fall/Winter 2024 for a Summer 2025 start date.

Applications will be reviewed within one month of submission and we will be letting you know if we will be offering you an interview at that point. Interviews will be grouped based on next fellowship class and which start dates work best for you.
