Abortion in Missouri
On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision in Dobbs v. Jackson (MS) Women’s Health Organization (JWHO), which eliminated 50 years of federal protection for the right to abortion – enabling many state-by-state bans to take effect, including Missouri. Residents can visit abortionfinder.org for help identifying and accessing their best option for medically supervised care.
Abortion remains protected under the Kansas State Constitution and PPGP health centers there are providing care.

Kansas has a 24-hour mandatory waiting period after a patient signs the online informed consent form before an abortion — this, compared to Missouri's 72-hour mandatory waiting period and required in-person informed consent process.
In light of the overruling of Roe V. Wade, PPGP created the Center for Abortion and Reproductive Equity (CARE), an interdepartmental effort to support equitable access to abortion and other sexual and reproductive health care services. In response to the fear felt by our patients and the significant hurdles to care in our region, PPGP is working to identify new ways to support and respond to our patients’ needs.
