Get Involved with Raíz

The Raíz program aims to build sustainable, Latinx community organizing to execute issue-based campaigns and deepen Latinx community engagement in Ventura County. 

These issues will be intersectional and may include: pesticide reform, LGBTQ+ inclusive sex education in schools, sexual and reproductive health care access, address human trafficking, and immigrant rights. We want to build upon our current grassroots organizing foundation, provide leadership growth and skill development for the Latinx leaders, and help strengthen a powerful movement of strong, healthy communities.

Cafecitos

Hosting a cafecito is an opportunity to engage Latinx people and communities in intentional, meaningful dialogue by creating a welcoming, familial environment. For Raíz, this means connecting with volunteers and supporters while focusing on topics of sexual and reproductive health, addressing abortion stigma, or other pertinent topics relevant to Latinx populations. While some topics may appear to be taboo in our communities on the surface, we can start unpacking and tackling those stigmas by having honest and intentional conversations en comunidad.

Community Collaboration

Planned Parenthood works to make sure everyone has access to reproductive health care and body autonomy. We also want to address the specific needs of our communities. In order to do this, we invest in relationship building — supporting partner organizations and participating in community events.

Raíz organizers can help your organization with actions, rallies, phone banks, canvasses, and more. If you’d like us at your event, please get in touch. 

College Programs

Students are essential to our movement. We table on college campuses with Latinx student enrollment to share about our reproductive health services, volunteer opportunities, and upcoming events. We'd love to partner with any student groups to further engage our student communities. Previous events Raiz organizers have helped plan include:
