Maryana Iskander is the chief operating officer for Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the nation’s leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate. Ms. Iskander oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations, and guides strategic, organizational, and management issues.
Ms. Iskander formerly served as adviser to the president of Rice University, where she oversaw an ambitious strategic planning process and partnerships between the university and the city of Houston. In 2006, she was selected by the Aspen Institute as one of 20 Henry Crown Fellows, an honor awarded to executives who have already achieved considerable success.
Ms. Iskander has also served as a law clerk to Judge Diane P. Wood of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She was an associate at McKinsey & Co., a strategy consultant at W.L. Gore & Associates, and a law clerk at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York, Vinson & Elkins in Houston, and the Center for Reproductive Rights in New York. She earned a BA magna cum laude from Rice University, an M.Sc. from Oxford University (while a Rhodes scholar), and a JD from Yale Law School.
