Gifts in Wills

A gift in your estate will both positively impact the thousands of adults and young people who rely on Planned Parenthood, and reduce your federal estate taxes. Your gift may take the form of:

• A specific dollar amount

• A percentage of your overall estate

• Specific property

Suggested bequest language: “I give and bequeath to Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North  Mississippi, a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, with headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, __% of my estate (or the sum of $__ dollars).”

Gifts that Cost You Nothing Now

Making Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi a full or partial beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan is easy and flexible and allows you to make a planned gift separate from your will.

In addition, as a tax-exempt organization, we will receive your gift tax free. When left to individuals, as much as 80% of retirement funds may be diminished by federal income taxes.

Simply request a beneficiary form from your plan administrator. On the designation line, write “Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi.”

Charitable Gift Annuities: In addition to an immediate tax deduction, a portion of the payment you receive will be tax free. Many individuals aged 70 and older find this to be an attractive giving opportunity.

Charitable Remainder Trusts: This option offers you the opportunity to set up a charitable plan tailored to your specific financial goals. Through investment of trust assets, you have the option of enjoying increasingly larger payments throughout your lifetime as well as significant tax savings. After the trust expires, the remaining assets will go to Planned Parenthood and any other charities named in the trust agreement.
