CINCINNATI – Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region (PPSWO) today announced the departure of its President and CEO, Kersha Deibel, at the end of June 2023. Deibel has served as President and CEO of the organization since 2019.

PPSWO is one of the region’s largest providers of family planning and reproductive health care. The Planned Parenthood affiliate operates 5 health centers in southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky with an annual budget of $9 million. The organization serves more than 17,000 patients every year.

“Being the CEO of Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio has been a gift. It afforded me the opportunity to truly serve my community and, at the same time, work with an incredible team of mission-minded folks,” said Deibel. “Our mission is critical and our commitment to reproductive freedom, access to reproductive health care and education are unrivaled. The people who are drawn to work for and support Planned Parenthood are truly extraordinary. I am confident the next chapter for Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio will be one of continued progress and compassion.”

Before joining the Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region team, Deibel spent over eight years leading and organizing within Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund in Washington, DC. There, she led the team to run winning electoral campaigns that centered on the lived experience of BIPOC communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, young people, and patient advocates at the local, state, and federal levels.

Deibel has served, in the past, as the President of the DC Abortion Fund. Currently, Deibel serves on the Board of Directors for the National Abortion Federation. Kersha’s reproductive health and rights foundation was built while working in a Planned Parenthood St. Louis Health Center as a Patient Educator, where she interviewed patients and provided counseling of health care options.

“Kersha’s legacy is powerful. She is a brilliant leader, and she has led this organization through some of the toughest years in recent history. She has been an absolute force in her work to protect access to reproductive health care in Ohio. She has made our organization stronger, and we feel ready to confidently take on challenges that lie ahead. I know Kersha will never stop being a champion for this organization and the people we serve.” –Kiana Trabue, Chair of the Planned Parenthood Board of Directors.

The Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Board of Directors will begin the search for Deibel’s replacement shortly.
