FAQs

What are matching gift programs?

Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. It’s an easy way to double your gift and make an even bigger impact on patients!

How do I request a matching gift?

Requesting a matching gift is normally a five-minute process which must be initiated by the donor, and then we take care of the rest. You can begin this process by entering your company name in our database search bar above. If you work at a company that matches gifts, information about your employer's matching gift program will appear with the paper or electronic form for you to submit.

How is this information obtained?

We partner with a company called Double the Donation that has created a matching gift search engine and database. Its mission is to help institutions like Whitworth proactively grow matching gift donations, so that more support can go to patients and Planned Parenthood's core mission.

What if I forget to submit my matching gift request?

If you forget to submit your matching gift after selecting your company at the time of donation, you will receive emails prompting you to submit your match. The majority of companies offer an all-electronic matching gift submission process. Unless your employer’s matching gift guidelines denote otherwise, you can submit your match request within the same Planned Parenthood fiscal year you made your gift. Our fiscal year runs July 1st – June 30th.

What if I still have questions?

For questions regarding your company’s programs, please contact your employer’s department of human resources or community giving/social responsibility. Information may also be available on your company intranet.

For questions about submitting a matching gift request to us, or other questions for Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio, please contact our annual giving team at [email protected].

Are matching gifts tax-deductible?

While your donation to a 501(c)3 organization is tax-deductible, your matching gift is not tax-deductible. Only your personal contributions are eligible for tax-deduction. Each party involved (yourself and your employer) can only take deductions for contributions they directly made to the nonprofit.
