In 2015, the IRA Charitable Rollover was signed into permanent law, allowing taxpayers age 70 ½ or older to transfer up to $100,000 annually from their IRA accounts directly to charity without first having to recognize the distribution as income.

The gifts to charity can count toward your mandatory withdrawal and must be made directly from the IRA account, not pass through the IRA holder (you), to avoid income recognition for you.

Of course, your IRA is also gold when you contribute all or a portion of your retirement plan assets to Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida, Inc. through your estate plan – a very special way to invest in the future of reproductive health, rights, and sex education, and potentially help your heirs avoid paying higher income tax and estate taxes.

Please call our Philanthropy Department at 941-567-3824 with any questions about IRA gift distributions or including Planned Parenthood in your estate planning.
