PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS EXPANDS PROGRAM FOR WORLD AIDS DAY
DENVER, CO— On Thursday, December 1, 2016, in recognition of World AIDS Day, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) will launch an agency-wide initiative focused on raising awareness of HIV and AIDS. Complimentary testing will be available at select health centers throughout the day.
“Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is excited to participate in this campaign for the fourth consecutive year. Each year, we see more and more clients. In our inaugural year, we offered the testing at our Central clinic in Denver. The second year we expanded to two more health centers in the Denver metro area, and in 2012 we were able to offer free testing at five health centers within a two- state region. We have been committed to the growth of this program each year and are excited to make 2016 the largest yet. We’ve been working tirelessly to train current and new volunteers to be able to provide HIV education and testing which increases PPRM’s capacity to serve every patient who seeks an answer to their HIV status,” said Whitney Phillips, spokesperson for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.
In 2016, Planned Parenthood will offer free HIV testing at seven health centers across the organization’s four-state region. Participating sites include Aurora, Colorado Springs, Central, and Southwest health centers in Colorado, as well as health centers in Las Vegas Flamingo, Santa Fe, New Mexico and Casper, Wyoming.
