The following is a list of the workshops and trainings offered by PPNNE’s Population Health & Education Department. We recommend these trainings for groups of participants who are members of the same organization, association, or program, though we can adapt content to meet the needs of your audience or entity.

For Community Providers and Professionals
All trainings are free. PPNNE is unable to provide CMEs or CEUs at this time. Participants must be 18 years or older.
- Intro to the 10 Best Practices for Contraceptive Counseling
This 2-hour training introduces the evidence-based 10 Best Practices for Contraceptive Counseling. It also outlines the reproductive justice framework for the need for best practices in contraceptive counseling. This training is available to all providers and professionals in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, though ideal for clinical and social service providers who offer direct patient or client care. - Overview of Contraceptive Methods
A 1-hour basic orientation of 16 contemporary contraceptive methods. Method type, efficacy, and accessibility are covered in this training. This session also covers emergency contraception. This training is available to all providers and professionals in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. - Introduction to our Sexual and Reproductive Health Resource Binder for Providers
Access to the binder and a 1-hour tour of the binder contents, including suggestions for binder use and opportunities to ask questions about resource application. This training can be modified and enhanced to go deeper into topics of interest for your organization/scope of work. Resources in this binder cover the following topics: reproductive life planning, birth control methods, pregnancy options counseling, STIs, consent and healthy relationships. Resource binders are available for both adult and youth-serving professionals. This training is available to all adult and youth-serving providers and professionals in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, though ideal for clinical and social service providers who offer direct patient or client care. Examples of adult-serving professionals include family doctors, clinicians, social workers, and case managers. Examples of youth-serving professionals include pediatricians, teachers, health educators, and school nurses. - PPNNE Services Overview
A 1-hour overview of services provided at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. This presentation covers scheduling options, access to telehealth and at home testing, a preview of our health care services, information about our translation and interpretation options, and an explanation of our sliding scale payment options. This training is available to all in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. - Context and History of Reproductive Oppression, Coercion, and Justice
A 1.5-hour workshop is intended to introduce providers of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to the historical context of modern gynecology and contemporary contraceptive methods with a health equity lens. Attendees will leave with an understanding of why reproductive justice frameworks are essential to sexual and reproductive health care services. This training is available to all providers and professionals in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. - The Future of Abortion in ME, NH, and VT without Roe v. Wade
This 15-minute overview covers where things stand with regard to legal access to abortion in our country and here in northern New England now that the Supreme Court of the United States has overturned Roe v. Wade.

Our adult-sex education offerings are available in 1-time sessions or as part of a series. Topics covered can include reproductive life planning, an overview of birth control methods, pregnancy options, STI prevention and treatment, consent and healthy relationships, sex positivity, gender identity and sexual orientation, and sexual and reproductive health care. This training is available to all adults in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
For Youth, Young People, and Students
- Peer Education Program
Our peer education program equips youth ages 14-18 with the knowledge and skills they need to serve as sexual health resources for their peers.
