What technology do I need for a Telehealth appointment?

You can access telehealth at PPNNE by phone or video. For most appointments, a video connection is not required (abortion pills require video connection).  For audio-only, you can use a cell phone or a landline. For a video-call, you can use any device with a camera that can connect to the internet (smartphone, tablet or iPad, or computer). Bluejeans is the free website that PPNNE uses to provide secure, remote care. While you do not need to download this app, some patients have a better connection when they use the app.

Where do I need to be located for a Telehealth appointment?

You need to be in Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont during your visit. You can be in any home, building, parked car, or other place that is easy for you. If you prefer to connect without video, you can be anywhere with cell phone or landline connection. If you prefer to connect with video, you can be anywhere you have internet connection.

How much does it cost? Do you take insurance?

The cost depends on the service you're being seen for, but there is no difference in cost for Telehealth or health center visits. We accept most insurance, including Anthem, BlueCross, Cigna, MaineCare, MVP, and Medicaid. We can work with you to determine if your insurance is active the day of your appointment. We also see many people without insurance and have programs available to help reduce the cost of care. This includes a sliding fee scale based on income and family size. We also have special programs that may allow you to receive free family planning services.

What if I'm prescribed medication during my appointment? How do I get it?

We can mail some medications to an address of your choice in Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont. You can pick up your medication at a pharmacy near you. Or you can pick up medications at your nearest Planned Parenthood location. If you need tests, we can mail them to you, you can get them done at your nearest Planned Parenthood location, or we can send the testing order to a testing place near you.
