In the company of fellow Planned Parenthood supporters and featured speaker, immediate past president of the American Medical Association Barbara L. McAneny, MD, celebrate the freedom and autonomy provided by compassionate, expert reproductive health care and comprehensive, science-based sex education.
The Immediate Past President of the American Medical Association, Barbara L. McAneny, MD, is a board-certified medical oncologist/hematologist. Among her many accolades, she’s also a champion of patient care—founding the National Cancer Care Alliance, serving on the board of Planned Parenthood of New Mexico, and founding the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation.
Courage Award Winner: Selina Sandoval
This year’s Courage Award recipient is Selina Sandoval. A native of California, Sandoval first moved to the Midwest to attend medical school at the University of Illinois. It was there that she found her passion in women’s health and reproductive justice. Trained under Planned Parenthood North Central States’ Chief Medical Officer Dr. Traxler in St. Paul, Sandoval is now completing her training to be an abortion provider, with a passion for providing care in underserved areas of the country.
