Sarah Stoesz smiles brightly in front of a light brick wall.

St. Paul, MN—The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal today named Planned Parenthood North Central States (PPNCS) President and CEO Sarah Stoesz to its 2022 list of Most Admired CEOs in Minnesota.

Stoesz was one of 10 leaders of small and mid-sized growing businesses and nonprofits in the Twin Cities area to receive the award, which recognizes the professional accomplishments and community involvement of top leaders devoted to community and industry organizations.

“Sarah Stoesz has built Planned Parenthood into one of the strongest and most impactful health care organizations in our region,” said Shane Swanson, Chair of the PPNCS Board. “Sarah’s creativity, dedication, and work ethic—powered by a stellar team and community of supporters—have expanded Planned Parenthood’s footprint beyond what many could have imagined 20 years ago when she started in the role.”

Stoesz began her career at Planned Parenthood serving as CEO for Minnesota and South Dakota before growing the organization to include Iowa, North Dakota, and Nebraska. Along with a dedicated community of donors and supporters, the organization now serves more than 100,000 patients a year in its 28 health centers and through telehealth, double the annual number of patients served when she started. PPNCS’s sex education program has also ballooned to include 50 educators, providing thousands of youth, adults, and professionals with comprehensive, medically-accurate sex education.

Additionally, Planned Parenthood launched a robust research department that leads national studies on new contraceptive technology, health equity, and abortion access. Planned Parenthood has grown into a political and advocacy leader during a time when reproductive health care and freedom are under severe attack by politicians and groups who want to ban abortion.

Stoesz will be honored by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in September during an awards event for honorees.
