In-Health Center Abortion (Procedural Abortion) Visits

If your visit is for an in-clinic abortion procedure, our providers will speak with you about your medical history, all of your options to best support you, and your birth control needs in the future. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and will be given information about what to do in an emergency. Your visit may include a pelvic exam, an ultrasound, and blood work. For more information about procedural abortion, please visit our in-clinic abortion info page.

At your visit, you will be offered medication to help you relax and assist with pain management. If you choose not to or are unable to take this medication, you will be offered ibuprofen. If you take anything other than ibuprofen, you will need to plan transportation home as you won’t be allowed to drive. A support person is welcome to accompany you at the appointment.

You will likely have light bleeding after the procedure. Please dress comfortably. It is best if you can wear full brief underwear as you will likely need to use a maxi pad and clothing that is easy to pull on and pull off.

A staff member will call 2-3 days prior to your appointment to provide additional visit instructions and answer any questions.

Please note: you will speak with a health care professional at your appointment about your medical information, all of your options, and you will be able to ask questions.
