Making a gift in your will, known as a bequest, is a simple way to support the future of Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota.

Gifts That Cost You Nothing Now

Make Planned Parenthood a beneficiary of your IRA or other retirement plan to support our future, as well as diminish your estate’s future taxes.

Gifts that Generate Income for Life

A life-income gift lets you make a gift to Planned Parenthood, earn income for life, and also enjoy a significant income tax deduction in the year you set up the gift.

Gifts in Your Will

A gift in your estate will not only impact the thousands of women, men, and teens who rely on Planned Parenthood, it will also reduce your federal estate taxes. Your gift may take the form of:

• A specific dollar amount

• A percentage of your overall estate

Suggested bequest language: “I give and bequeath to Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, with headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, __% of my estate (or the sum of $__ dollars).”

Gifts That Cost You Nothing Now

Making Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota a full or partial beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan is easy and flexible and allows you to make a planned gift separate from your will.

In addition, as a tax-exempt organization, we will receive your gift tax free. When left to individuals, as much as 80% of retirement funds may be diminished by federal income taxes.

Simply request a beneficiary form from your plan administrator. On the designation line, write “Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota.”

Gifts that Generate Income for Life

Charitable Gift Annuities: In exchange for a gift of $10,000 or more, Planned Parenthood provides a stream of income to one or more individuals for life. In addition to an immediate tax deduction, a portion of the payment you receive will be tax free. Many individuals aged 70 and older find this to be an attractive giving opportunity.

Charitable Remainder Trusts: This option offers you the opportunity to set up a charitable plan tailored to your specific financial goals. Through investment of trust assets, you have the option of enjoying increasingly larger payments throughout your lifetime as well as significant tax savings. After the trust expires, the remaining assets will go to Planned Parenthood and any other charities named in the trust agreement.

Planned Parenthood's planned giving donors become a part of our Margaret Sanger Society. We create opportunities to recognize Sanger Society members throughout the year, including an annual event each spring. These events provide members with the opportunity to meet our staff, receive updates on our programs, and visit with other like-minded supporters.
