Patients Will Continue to Access a Full Range of Reproductive Health Care at the Mishawaka Location Starting July 20
INDIANAPOLIS – Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK) announced today that health center operations in Elkhart and Mishawaka will combine and transition patients in the region to the Mishawaka location. This merger will streamline services for patients and strengthen the organization’s ability to provide quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care and education throughout the northeast portion of Indiana over the short and long term.
“Since 1932, PPINK has been the leading provider of sexual and reproductive health care in Indiana,” said Rebecca Gibron, Chief Operating Officer for PPINK. "Every day, the health of our patients and the communities we serve is our top priority. We are committed to ensuring that as many people as possible continue to have access to high-quality, affordable health care and information.
"In a shifting health care landscape nationally and in the states we serve, our board and senior staff are continually assessing operations in order to provide a long-term, sustainable strategy for delivering the best possible services to the people who rely on us. After much evaluation and deliberation, we’ve determined that this transition will allow us to better continue serving the people who depend on Planned Parenthood for health care and information."
The Mishawaka Health Center is near Highway 20, and close to several public transportation options that run throughout the city. It will allow PPINK to serve current and future patients with large exam rooms and meeting space for health center staff.
In total, PPINK now operates 15 health centers across Indiana. In 2018, PPINK served 34,021 unduplicated patients with a full range of high-quality sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion referrals, birth control, LGBTQ services, and STI testing and treatment.
The last day for patient appointments at the Elkhart location will be July 17, 2020. Elkhart staff will begin at the Mishawaka health center on July 20, 2020.
The Mishawaka Health Center will remain open five days a week (Monday through Friday) and is continuing to see patients in person and online. Our health center staff are following all CDC guidelines in accordance with COVID-19 requirements and are open and here for you.
