Your clinician will review your medical history and discuss your needs and goals during your telehealth visit. You’ll learn about birth control options to figure out the best method for you. Some birth control methods – like the IUD, birth control shot or implant – require a separate health center visit. Other methods ­– the pill, patch, and ring – can be sent to you. 

Your clinician will review your medical history. Depending on important factors — such as when you had sex, your weight and the method easiest for you to access — they will determine which emergency contraception method is right for you.

During your telehealth appointment, your clinician will review your medical history. Together you'll discuss any symptoms you're experiencing as well as your best treatment course. UTI treatment is only available through the Planned Parenthood Direct App.

Planned Parenthood Direct virtual visits are a lot like having an email or chat conversations with your clinician. 

Some PP Direct and all appointments scheduled by our contact center require a video visit, which allows you go speak directly to your clinician. Wherever you are, find a quiet and private space. Find a well-lit area for your clinician to see you clearly. Make sure your device is charged or plugged in, and have a way to take notes during your visit.

All telehealth visits are a lot like in-person visits, and your clinician will ask you the same types of questions. Be ready to talk about:

• the reason for your visit
• your health and medical history, including your sex life
• any symptoms you're having, how long you’ve had them, and if they’ve changed over time
• any treatments you’ve tried before or medicines you take now
• and information about your insurance, pharmacy, and primary care doctor

It's helpful to make a list of things you want to discuss ahead of time, to make sure you get what you want out of your visit. Be open and answer questions honestly. The staff at Planned Parenthood has heard it all — we’re here to help, not judge. And like all appointments at Planned Parenthood, your telehealth visit is completely private and confidential.

No. Your clinician won’t conduct a physical exam over video. If you need a physical exam, your clinician will help you schedule an in-person visit as a next step.

We currently do not accept private insurance for telehealth appointments. However, all of our health centers accept insurance, Medicaid, or self-pay patients for all in-person appointments.

Not at all. The length of your visit is determined by your needs. Telehealth visits are conducted by the same compassionate clinicians who work at our health centers. So your health care provider will give you all the time and attention you need to ensure that your concerns are met. And they will help you understand the next steps in your care. 

Not a problem. Your clinician will walk you through the next steps in your treatment plan. If you do need a follow-up appointment at a health center, we can help you schedule it. 

If you need prescription medicines you can pick them up at your local Planned Parenthood health center, or maybe able to arrange to have them mailed to you, or we can always have the prescription sent to your local pharmacy. Your clinician will help you figure out what's best.
