Well-person visit
According to our records, you are due for your well-person visit.
It is important that you come in every year for a well-person visit even if you aren’t experiencing any symptoms.
Your well-person visit is all about you, your body, and your reproductive health. Well-person visits are also called gynecological exams, pelvic exams, or annual exams. What happens during your well-person visit depends on a few things, like how old you are, your anatomy, and your sexual and medical history. Some annual visits may just consist of a talk with a clinician plus a physical exam. Other services you may receive include:
- Birth control consultation
- Breast examinations
- Vaccines
Testing such as a pap test and STD tests may also be recommended based on your sexual and/or medical history.
Well-person visits are a key part of preventive care. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, (aka Obamacare), as long as you have health insurance, all of your preventive care should be covered at no cost to you.
If you don’t have insurance, the costs can vary. Your nearest Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) health center can talk with you about your payment options.
