Teen V.I.B.E is PPGC’s first-ever all-day conference designed for teens, by teens — and it’s more than just sex ed!

PPGC believes in a holistic approach to health and well-being for all people. That’s why Teen V.I.B.E. will offer teens (ages 14+) a deep dive into a range of topics on sexual health and self-empowerment.

Here's what Teen V.I.B.E has to offer:

SEX ED SESSIONS:

Gender Identity & NeoPronouns

At Planned Parenthood, we believe in LGBTQ+ inclusive education, and we know that gender is also an important part of a person’s identity. No matter how a person identifies, everyone deserves to take care of their sexual health with care and dignity. Join us for an introductory lesson on gender identity and neopronouns.

Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships (Teen Dating Violence Awareness)

What makes a relationship healthy? How can we identify our own personal “deal-breakers” based on our values? Learn all of this and more when we take a deep dive into healthy vs. unhealthy behaviors and how to support someone who may be experiencing relationship violence.

Birth Control

From hormonal birth control like the pill to barrier methods like condoms, we have so many options! Knowing how to protect ourselves helps us make informed decisions so we can be healthy and in control of our own bodies.

Consent

Consent is not only cool — it’s crucial! But learning how to communicate our boundaries and desires can be a real challenge. From asking permission to listening to a partner’s feedback, this session will break down the details of consent so we can engage in healthy communication with those around us.

Reproductive Justice

Reproductive justice is about bodily autonomy, but it’s more than just deciding whether or not to have children: It is a systematic approach that centers people’s agency to control their own reproductive health regardless of social, economic, racial, or ethnic status — and the role of social and political power dynamics.

SELF-DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS:

Self Love/Self-Esteem & Mental Health

There’s no health without mental health! In this session, a licensed counselor will discuss the importance of self-love and self-esteem. Learn how our relationship with ourselves impacts our mental health.

Overview of College Admissions & Financial Aid

What is the college admissions process and when in high school does it begin? What is financial aid and how can it help students pay for higher education? In this session, an Admissions Recruiter from Southern University and A&M College will discuss the college application process, financial aid, and HBCUs (historically Black colleges and universities).

Presenting Your Best Professional Self

What is a career fair? How do you introduce yourself and your objectives in a job interview? In this session, a representative from the Career Development Office at Rice University will address how to network and interact with school administrators and potential employers, professional attire, written and non-verbal communication, and accountability when seeking a job or volunteer opportunity.

What to Expect Your First Year in College

For many students, the first year of college can be a culture shock. Join us for real talk about how to stay focused while navigating a full class schedule, clubs/organizations, and a whole new social life.

Financial Literacy 101

Understanding finances is an important part of growing up and becoming an independent adult. In this session, participants will learn about checking and saving accounts and how credit cards and loans work. This is an excellent session for young people to learn how to manage their money.

If you are under 18, please complete the conference consent form: English  Spanish
