Reimagining the Toledo Community’s Health Center

Today, our work to care for the most vulnerable people in the Toledo area is more urgent than ever. Of the working-age women in Lucas County who rely on Medicaid, nearly half are Planned Parenthood patients. We have established ourselves as a trustworthy provider of nonjudgmental, high-quality care for Toledoans and for the broader Northwest Ohio region. Updated facilities will correspond with the excellent care we already provide to the community.

Watch the Walk-Through

To ensure we can provide a first-rate experience for all patients, we need a welcoming, inclusive, and comfortable space. Further, these updates will allow us to offer additional primary care and telemedicine services. We will be better equipped to provide holistic, inclusive care to even more patients.

Pitch in to Bring this Transformation to Toledo

Making this new health center a reality for the Toledo community will require a total investment of $1,040,000. Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio will be able to provide much of this funding thanks to the prior generosity of donors in Toledo and across Ohio.

However, we must raise an additional $350,000 from local supporters to fund this renovation. We know donations of all sizes, from a long list of supporters can make it happen.

Toledo area community members, with immense pride in their neighborhoods, demonstrate the power of collective action. Pitch in now to be a part of this community-powered transformation.

Enhancements for a Healthy Toledo

Dignified care in a modernized setting

Our new health center will reflect the modern services we are offering and will enable us to see more patients.

An additional consultation room will enable our expansion into limited primary care including the diagnosis and management of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.

A new space to provide telehealth care will allow us to meet patients’ needs virtually.

Increased comfort for our patients

A reimagined waiting room with new flooring will allow patients to find a comfortable space as they wait for their appointments.

New, more inclusive signage and enhanced recordkeeping capabilities will enable us to provide gender-affirming care.

Although we are already ADA-compliant, the renovations will make our health center even more comfortable for our patients with disabilities.

Improved safety, privacy and security

In a time when reproductive health care has become so politicized, we will upgrade and expand security features that ensure the safety and privacy of our staff and patients.

Dedicated space for education and advocacy

The renovated health center will include space devoted to community and education activities. We will strengthen our health education work by having an appropriate space to host education sessions and community meetings.

In particular, the health center will provide a home for our Peer Education program, empowering local youth to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.
