Fearless Fundraiser Quick Start Guide

Your guide to leverage your network to raise money for Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio.

We wouldn’t be here without you.

Through it all – legislative attacks on reproductive health care and education, defunding efforts, smear campaigns, and a global pandemic – you’ve had our back, ensuring that the thousands of patients who reply on Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio (PPGOH) can continue to access the comprehensive reproductive health care and education they deserve.

The Power of Your Story

Peer-to-peer fundraising is so impactful for one reason: you!

Telling your story is one of the most important parts of a Fearless Fundraiser.

For the people you ask to support your Fearless Fundraiser – your friends, family members, and community – you are one of the most powerful messengers of our work. Folks who will skip over emails from an organization will read and engage with one from someone they trust – and that is you!

So, take a moment and think: what is your Planned Parenthood story? Here are some prompts to help you answer:

What is your personal Planned Parenthood story?

Without PP, how would your life or the lives of your loved ones be different?

Did Planned Parenthood help someone you love?

Why are you passionate about protecting reproductive health care and education?

Share your Fearless Fundraiser

Sharing your Fearless Fundraiser with your network is critically important – if folks don’t know you are raising money for PPGOH, they can’t join you in supporting our work!

On average, someone needs to see something 7 times for it to stick. Use different communications channels – don’t rely just on social media or just on email. Some folks will be more responsive to a text message or a phone call – others may just want to get invited to a Facebook event. Here are some best practices:

Share your fundraiser on social media.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever platforms you use. Tagging people and inviting them to participate is a great way to notify your network that you are raising money for reproductive health care!

Email your friends, family, and network.

Send out emails sharing why you are moved to support Planned Parenthood’s work. It can be helpful to email groups of people together – for example, friends from your alma mater – so others can see that you are reaching out to others they may know.

Text or call people you know are supportive

Don’t be afraid to text or call someone if you know they are passionate about their work. Sharing with someone who trusts you why you are supporting Planned Parenthood, and inviting them to join you is one of THE most effective ways to build support!

Multiple communications is okay!

It is ok to reach out to people through different channels. You might tag someone on Facebook, send them an email, and also text or call them.

Thank Every Donor, Every Time:

Whenever someone makes a donation, big or small, remember to say thank you! A short, personal thank you message is so important.

If you have any donations from your fundraiser that were made offline – by cash or check – you can deliver them to your local PPGOH office in person, or mail them to us at:

206 East State Street
Columbus, OH 43215
