Every year on March 10, we join fellow reproductive health, rights, and justice groups in celebrating National Abortion Provider Appreciation Day. This day is to honor and express our gratitude for clinicians, nurses, and all health center staff who provide abortions, care for patients, and work tirelessly against the stigma surrounding abortion.

March 10 became the National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers in 1996. After Dr. David Gunn, an abortion provider, was murdered by a white supremacist and anti-abortion extremist on March 10, 1993. The day was created to honor the life and work of Dr. Gunn and all the invaluable people who provide abortion care.

This National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers takes on renewed meaning as we fight for a future where all Ohioans can access safe and legal abortion.

Despite adversity, our abortion providers have displayed nothing but strength and perseverance; they have brought hope to the front lines of this battle, working tirelessly against the stigma surrounding abortion to ensure our patients receive the care they deserve – no matter what.

We asked our supporters to join us in showing our appreciation by sending messages of gratitude to our staff. Watch our video to see just a few of those messages.

Today and every day, we thank our staff at Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, as well as other providers around the country, for their hard work, dedication, and the compassionate care they provide.

If you have questions or are seeking an abortion, our doors are open. Come see us! Make an appointment online or call 800-230-7526.
