SCOTUS, Roe, and the Future of Abortion Access in New York State

The Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade. Several state abortion bans have now gone into effect. Some of our sister affiliates have suspended or stopped their abortion services altogether as they contend with these bans. This is devastating news, and it is weighing heavy on all of us. Whatever you are feeling in this moment is valid.

Many of our friends, family members, supporters, donors, and community members have questions around abortion access in New York and other states, and this video neatly sums up the immediate future of abortion access by state. Additionally, as a more interactive, and specifically informative tool, this map from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) covers the legal status of abortion by state. The New York Attorney General (AG) has issued guidance in multiple languages reminding New Yorkers of their right to abortion in New York State. Please share this widely with your networks. The AG has also set up a legal services hotline for those seeking abortion services in New York, which is a highly useful tool for the out-of-state patients we are beginning to see. Lastly, this powerful video from the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) celebrates you, our donors, our volunteers, and our staff who will take this decision and turn it into motivation, power, and a movement that is as strong as a force of nature.
