Additional Instructions for Services:

Medication Abortion

Preparing for Your First Visit

  • A medication abortion may not be given at your first visit. Ohio law requires that you sign/review two different documents within at least 24 hours before any type of abortion, including a medication abortion. A physician will sign a consent form with you at your first visit, and we will schedule a time for you to return to the clinic to undergo an abortion at least 24 hours after that document is signed.
  • Your first visit may take up to five hours. There will be many steps and waiting periods during this visit.
  • Please make childcare arrangements for all appointments. Children are not allowed in the waiting room or in our exam rooms.
  • You must present a valid photo ID that includes your date of birth (for example, a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or green card).
  • At your first visit you will be required to pay $250 of the total cost. Any remaining balance is due at your second visit, which will be scheduled at the time of your first visit.

Minors

  • A minor’s parent or legal guardian must consent to the procedure unless the minor has brought proof of judicial bypass. Consent from the parent or legal guardian must be in-person at the appointment.
  • Minor patients must bring a valid photo ID (see above) AND a birth certificate or proof of guardianship linking the minor to the parent or guardian accompanying them to the appointment.
  • It is required for a parent or legal guardian to bring a photo ID that includes a date of birth. If the parent’s name does not match the linking document to the patient, you must provide the document of name change (such as divorce decree, marriage license, etc.).

Preparing for Your Second Visit

  • The visit for the abortion procedure may take up to three hours.
  • Please take any medications you normally take. If you have asthma, please bring any asthma medications prescribed to you with you.
  • Do not take alcohol or street drugs for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Please limit visitors in the surgical center, as our small waiting areas cannot accommodate more people.
  • The total cost of a medication abortion/abortion pill is $650, and the balance is due at your second visit. We accept health insurance and your health insurance may cover the abortion. Please check with your provider to ensure eligibility and benefits. Financial assistance may be available for patients who qualify.

Your second Medication Abortion visit will include:

  • During your second visit, you will be given the first medication.
  • You will be given a second set of medication to take at home within 24/48 hours of taking the first dose of medication.
  • After taking the second medication, patients experience their abortion at home.
