FAQs

What can I expect during my visit?

Our front office staff will help check you in once you arrive to the health center.

Once you are registered in our computer system, you’ll be called to the back office. A medical assistant will get your vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure) and ask some basic questions, such as the reason for the visit. Our staff will also ask you some questions regarding sexual violence and domestic violence.

Depending on the services you want/need, you may see a registered nurse, a nurse practitioner, or a medical assistant may take care of all of your needs that day. If you are having symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection, such as unusual discharge, pelvic pain, pain with urination, etc., you will likely need an exam by a nurse practitioner. You may be asked to provide a urine or blood sample in case we need to run tests (such as for pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections).

Will my visit be confidential? What are my privacy rights?

Our health centers provide confidential services, so all your visits are private. If you are a minor, in some cases, we are required by law to report certain issues to agencies that can help you. By law, we have to contact someone for help if you are a minor (under 18) who says is:

  • Being sexually and/or physically abused
  • Going to hurt yourself or someone else
  • Involved in sex trafficking or being exploited
  • Are under 14 years and having sex with someone 14 or older
  • Are under 16 years and having sex with someone who is 21 or older

If you are covered under another person’s health plan in California, like your parents or your spouse, your insurance company may send payment information about your visit to your home address. However, you may request that your health insurance plan ensure your health information stays private and secure using a Confidential Communication Request to keep your visit private.

If you have any questions about your privacy rights, you can ask any Planned Parenthood staff member. We're here to help.

How much will it cost?

PPPSGV has many payment options to ensure that patients can receive high-quality services regardless of their income.

To learn more, visit our Payment Options page.

What should I bring with me to a visit?

If you have them, it is a good idea to bring your Medi-Cal, Family PACT or insurance card(s) and a picture ID, such as a driver’s license or school ID. No one will be turned away for not being able to produce these items, but you are strongly encouraged to bring them if possible.

Who can I contact if I have additional questions or need additional support?

If you have additional questions, feel free to give us a call at 626.798.0706!

Will there be protestors at my visit?

Occasionally we do have protesters outside of our health centers. They may try to stop your car, hand you packets with false information, or carry signs that are intended to make you uncomfortable.

A few important things to remember if you see protestors outside of our clinic:

1. You do not have to talk to them or take anything from them.

2. Protestors are not allowed on the property.

3. Protestors may not block your access to entering our health center.

All our health centers have security measures in place to ensure the safety and security of our patients and staff.
