How to Schedule or Attend a Let’s Be Honest! Workshop

We know that it is often difficult for parents to find the time in their busy schedules to access the kinds of information they need to raise their children successfully. The Parent Education program wants to make it as easy as possible for parents to create an environment of trust and comfort in talking with their children about sex and sexuality. We help educate parents to be comfortable in their role as the primary sexuality educators of their children through a variety of ways such as Community Partnerships, our Home Talks Program and a Corporate Brown Bag Lunch Series. For more details, please call us at (617) 616-1658 or email us at parenteducation@pplm.org.

Community Partnerships
Parent education reaches parents through community partnerships with schools, social service organizations, faith-based institutions, and health clinics in urban and suburban settings with whom families interact and in whom families have trust and confidence. Please contact Parent Education to find out more about our workshops and how we can help educate your parent group to be comfortable in their role as the primary sexuality educators of their children. If you’re interested in scheduling a program at your organization for your parent group, please call (617) 616-1658 or email us at parenteducation@pplm.org.

Home Talks Program
Through Home Talks, parents interested in learning more about youth sexual health and development can schedule a parent education workshop in their home. All they have to do is commit to inviting and hosting at least eight of their friends in their home for a two-hour interactive presentation and discussion, led by an experienced parent educator. Home Talks brings together parents who agree that it is important for their children to learn about sex and sexuality from them, and who would like some help talking with their kids as effectively as possible.

Hosts can choose from a menu of topics, including reproductive anatomy and physiology, an overview of changes during puberty, clarifying and communicating values, promoting healthy relationships and self-esteem, and battling peer pressure and media influences. Download a Home Talks flyer.

Corporate Brown Bag Lunch
Helping children grow into healthy and responsible adults is a tremendous job for parents. When parents feel comfortable in their role they are more likely to be fully present and productive at work. Experienced parent educators are available to offer a Let’s Be Honest workshop during lunch for employees at their company work sites. Providing parents with useful communication skills, information and resources enables them to help their children make healthier, safer and better-informed decisions related to sexuality. To schedule a Corporate Brown Bag Lunch for your business or place of employment, please call (617) 616-1658 or email parenteducation@pplm.org.
