African-Americans face obstacles to obtaining affordable, high-quality health care services. They experience higher rates of reproductive cancers, unintended pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections (STDs) than most other groups of Americans. Regular exams and health screenings can rule out or detect life-threatening diseases such as breast and cervical cancers, STDs, and HIV.
Early detection and treatment of these diseases saves lives. UHPP offers rapid oral swab testing for HIV, so no blood draws, and no waiting for days to hear back: results are available in 20-40 minutes. UHPP's health centers also perform testing and treatment for STDs, and offer screening tools for breast and cervical cancer. If you don't have insurance, many patients are eligible to sign up for a free health insurance program right there in the health center, so you can use it right away (click here for more information). Services are also available on a sliding fee-scale based on income. Click here to request an appointment now, or call 518.434.5678 to schedule an appointment at any of our health centers.
