The CCmáS Program

CCmáS is a Spanish language curriculum that teaches families how to advocate for the essential right to live a healthy life. It combines sexual and reproductive health education with information about navigating community resources and structures in a manner that allows families to become strong advocates for themselves and their communities.

CCmáS Includes 3 Parts

Home Parties

These are chats in your home where Health Promoters help you and your guests to feel more comfortable talking about subjects involving sexuality such as the development of your body, courtship, family values and how to have better communication with your family.

Educational Sessions

These are walks through your community where Health Promoters will take you to visit organizations in the community so you can meet professionals who are experts in what that organization does; so when you need them, you can know the location and feel comfortable using their services.

Advocacy Sessions

These are the same as home parties, but on these occasions, we’re going to talk about things that are happening in your community that deserve attention and the obligation we have to participate to bring about the changes that we want.

CCmáS Curriculum Development

The CCmáS curriculum was created by and for Latino families in partnership with education staff from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin. One important objective was to integrate cultural values, traditions, and beliefs into the program. The inclusion of cultural perspectives opens the door to greater acceptance of the program, and subsequent support for CCmáS families — whether at home in their country of origin or while creating a new life in a new land. With active programming experience since 2003, CCmáS has progressed via a fluid and organic process, becoming the adaptable program it is today. Information is updated frequently, addressing relevant and current issues that impact communities.
