The Wellness Counseling program is a holistic service that enables us to better serve our patient. Recognizing that there are both physical as well as social indicators of health this team works with individuals to help they find the services they need to live healthier lives. Every patient at Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood is screened for primary health indicators including BMI, Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, Smoking, Depression, Alcohol and Substance abuse as well as their safety at home and in their relationships.
The Wellness Counseling working closely with our Health Center Clinical Team and other partners in the community coordinates for mental health, substance abuse safe housing, social service needs and food security. Each case will be connected to the relevant community resources to support our clients’ health and well-being.
Wellness counseling is an integral part of service at UHPP. Our goal is to support our patients, destigmatize behavioral health services, provide encouragement throughout the process, and follow up and check on their progress. This program is an innovative way to serve our patient’s needs while providing exceptional sexual and reproductive healthcare.
