Dr. Byrd Cleveland has been appointed Vice President for Medical Affairs at Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood as of Monday, July 2, 2012.

Dr. Cleveland has broad training in Family Medicine, but has specialized in women's health, including cancer screening and prevention, family planning, the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, midlife services, and more since 2003. She previously served as an Attending Physician at Albany Medical Center in the department of Medicine and as an Adjunct Physician at St. Peter's Hospital in the departments of Pediatrics and Family Medicine. She has also been serving as a Contract Physician for UHPP since 2007.

Dr. Cleveland received her MS in Neuroscience from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and her MD from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She completed her residency training in Family Practice at Albany Medical Center. She will be replacing Dr. Fred Storm, who is retiring from UHPP after 25 years of service.

Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood (UHPP) is a community-based non-profit organization providing advocacy, education and medical services for reproductive health care since 1934. Ninety percent of UHPP services are preventive, including life saving cancer screening, GYN exams, birth control and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. In 2011, over 15,000 patients made 22,382 visits to UHPP health centers located in Albany, Hudson and Troy. UHPP health educators present over 800 education programs reaching 5,600 youth and young adults each year. UHPP services are delivered with special concern for the underserved.
