Planned Parenthood Purchases Building at 2430 Poplar Avenue
For Immediate Release: Jan. 30, 2014
MEMPHIS, TN - Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region (PPGMR) has purchased a 3-story office building at 2430 Poplar Avenue that was previously occupied by Family Services. The building will be the new home for PPGMR’s health center and administrative offices.
2430 Poplar is a 30,000 square foot building built in 1953. The first two floors will undergo a complete renovation before PPGMR moves its operations there during the summer of 2010. Purchasing and renovating the building will cost an estimated $2.8 million. When the renovations are complete, the building will house a state-of-the-art medical facility.
In order to pay for the project, PPGMR is launching a building fund campaign with the goal of raising at least $1 million by June 30, 2010. The majority of funding is expected to come from individual donors here in the Mid-South.
An investment in PPGMR’s building fund is an investment in the health and future of the entire Memphis community. PPGMR is offering supporters a chance to “buy in” to the new health center by “purchasing” one or more square feet of space in our facility! Each square foot requires a donation of $50 and you will receive a Certificate of Membership in our Building Fund Legacy Society for you or anyone you designate. To donate on line, click here.
At the new location, PPGMR will offer family planning services, contraception, well-woman exams, Pap tests and breast exams, STD testing and treatment, HIV testing, pregnancy testing and pregnancy terminations. But this new home will also give PPGMR new space for holding classes, meetings, allowing for greater collaboration with other non-profits and community groups. Find out more about the new building at www.ppgmr.org.
