Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region Offering Free HIV Testing for World AIDS Day
For Immediate Release: Jan. 30, 2014
In recognition of World AIDS Day on December 1st, Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region (PPGMR) is offering free HIV testing and counseling to the public at the following locations and times:
- Freedom’s Chapel Christian Church – 2768 Colony Park Drive,
Sunday, November 28, 2010, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Memphis Gay & Lesbian Community Center – 892 S. Cooper Street
Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
HIV testing is also always free and available without an appointment to men, women and teens at PPGMR’s new health center at 2430 Poplar Avenue, 2 blocks east of East Parkway during the following hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
As a part of World AIDS Day, PPGMR also partnered with the South Memphis Alliance, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Community HIV Network to offer free and confidential HIV testing in the school-based clinics at Northside High School, Westwood High School, East High School, and Sheffield Career and Technology Center during the weeks leading up to World AIDS Day.
It is a part of PPGMR’s mission to make free HIV testing available and accessible to anyone who wants to be tested. In addition to free confidential testing, PPGMR also provides HIV prevention counseling, resources and information to help men and women and teens protect their health and the health of their partners.
