On Saturday, November 6, 2010, Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region (PPGMR) held a reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new health center and administrative offices at 2430 Poplar Avenue.

PPGMR purchased the former Family Services building early in 2010 and oversaw a complete renovation of the first two floors of the 3-story building. At the 2430 Poplar location, PPGMR now offers comprehensive reproductive health services including family planning services, contraception, well-woman exams, Pap tests and breast exams, STD testing and treatment, HIV testing, pregnancy testing and pregnancy terminations.

The renovations transformed 2430 Poplar into a state of the art medical facility and ambulatory surgical center. “Our new building gives Planned Parenthood a secure home in Memphis for decades to come and ensures that we will continue to provide reproductive health services and comprehensive sexuality education to the people who need it here in the Greater Memphis area,” said Barry Chase, President and CEO of PPGMR.

The new building also affords PPGMR additional space for holding classes and meetings, allowing for greater collaboration with other non-profits and community groups. PPGMR partners with a number of government agencies, community groups and foundations, including the Tennessee Department of Health, YWCA and Memphis City Schools, as well as many others.
