Statement regarding the end of the 2021 Missouri Legislative session
For Immediate Release: May 14, 2021
Following the conclusion of the 2021 Missouri legislative session, Planned Parenthood released the following statement regarding the Missouri Legislature and Gov. Parson’s failure to fund voter-approved Medicaid Expansion
Statement from Yamelsie Rodríguez, President and CEO, Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri:
“As a trusted health care provider for patients with low incomes, rest assured: Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri stands ready to ensure all those who are eligible know when and how to enroll in the expanded Medicaid program. In no uncertain terms, a voter-approved Medicaid expansion means qualified Missourians have the constitutional right to access health care through the Medicaid program.
“We share in the all too familiar disappointment Missourians are experiencing when it comes to Gov. Parson’s failure as a leader. This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last, that Gov. Parson risks the lives of countless Missourians in a twisted game of politics. Nonetheless, our doors remain open to any person in need of health care. We will help patients weather this storm, because we know their lives depend on it.”
