REV Youth Leadership Program

REV(olution) is a youth leadership program operating for over a decade with a history of fostering passionate youth dedicated to sexual and reproductive healthcare issues, public speaking, peer-to-peer education, and youth action and advocacy.

Youth work together with PPSO facilitators to gain leadership skills, plan outreach events, become community advocates, educate their peers, train professionals, and educate parenting adults.

Becoming involved is a great way to do all this while getting volunteer hours, learning more about sexual and reproductive health and rights, and building a community.

“This experience helped me understand sexual health and sexuality to a greater extent in an open and caring environment with like-minded peers. I valued this experience because it helped me become more open and comfortable with sexuality and health and with healthcare in general.”
- REV alum, 2017

“REV allows youth to advocate for what they believe in, improve their public speaking skills, and spend time with like-minded individuals. These experiences have been incredibly beneficial for me.” - REV alum, 2018

Interested in joining?

REV is open to all high school students in the Eugene/Springfield and Rogue Valley area, where the two cohorts are located. Members should be committed to learning about reproductive justice and sexual health care issues, and excited to volunteer with Planned Parenthood. Members are enthusiastic, dependable, ready to grow, and able to work well with others.

REV welcomes youth of all genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, physical & mental abilities, and socioeconomic statuses. Members come to the group with different beliefs and viewpoints. No one is expected to have any previous knowledge or education about sexual health and prevention issues. We strive to create a community that is strong and varied in its membership and work actively to build a group that is anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic, and anti-transphobic.

REV is a commitment! REV meets virtually once a week throughout the school year for 2 hours with many opportunities for projects and activities outside of regular group meetings.

REV Activities

Peer Education

REV students have the option of participating in peer education lessons on a variety of topics — for high school students and parents. REV youth provide input and implement peer education workshops in schools and community organizations across Oregon (by request) and also provide parent education workshops to parents and adults looking to engage in conversations about sexuality with the young people in their lives.

Special Projects and Events

REV students participate in and design their own special projects and events. These include a range of possibilities that connect REV youth to the greater community, and encompass PPSO's goal of youth being at the forefront of the mission. REV youth have the opportunity to act as speakers, organizers, tablers, and more!
