Our one-on-one program allows you, your teen or a partner to meet with a health educator individually.
Let's Talk! A Program for Parents and Caregivers
Teens rank parents as the #1 influence on their sexual decisions- whether or not they ask! Let’s Talk! helps parents turn their values and beliefs about sex into conversations their families need. Parents will receive tips, tools, resources and the confidence and competency they need to help facilitate a conversation about sexual health with their children.
Developmental Disability Education Program
People with developmental disabilities are often overlooked or forgotten when it comes to human sexuality. This oversight leads to a plethora of barriers and stigma for the disability community including an increased probability of being victimized, lack of support services, lack of education about being disabled and LGBTQ+ and what it means to give and get consent. Stigma silences crucial conversations and has devastating results.
In 2017, the Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Education department was awarded a grant from the CareSource Foundation to build a program focused on the health and safety of people with developmental disabilities. Since the launch of the program in early 2018, we have provided over 50 hours of education to people with various developmental and intellectual disabilities on topics such as: hygiene, puberty, healthy relationships, anatomy, boundaries, internet safety, and more. We are also able to provide education to parents on child development and how to talk to children and adolescents about sex, relationships, and sexual health. We will develop tailor made presentations for direct care staff if requested.

What our clients are saying…
- I had one of my families share with me that this has been one of their most helpful resources. Sexual education for this population is not discussed enough and there are never enough resources. Many of our families are financially limited and cannot afford the resources that are costly. This has been extremely beneficial. One of my favorite parts was how much this program is geared towards client goals.
- It was tailored to the individual served and helped him to develop a healthy relationship, whereas the individual had, had previous sex offenses making it difficult to move forward.
*All cases are reviewed in-depth to ensure proper alignment with our program. We may refer to another provider if the client needs are outside of our scope of service.
