What is Camp MEE?
The Ohio Center for Sex Education is dedicated to the proposition that all people have a right to relationship and sexual health education that will help them understand, appreciate and take responsibility for their lives. Camp Movement, Enrichment, Empowerment (MEE), is a health and wellness summer camp for youth of all genders, ages 11-14.
However, only 7.2% of students in Ohio received instruction in all 20 comprehensive sex education topics. The Ohio Revised code does not include any requirement for sex education to be medically accurate or comprehensive. In addition, it does not require important topics like consent or gender identity be taught. Camp MEE fills this need by providing campers with factual information in a fun setting.
